while i do not argue the stand of atheism (because as a jew i find it totally logical and acceptable), i have noticed that there are odd carryover preconceptions about scripture that some hold as axiomatic about the bible (at least the hebrew texts), misconceptions that have nothing to do with the jewish scriptures themselves.. so regardless of what you may think of scripture, whether you believe it is of g-d or not, i thought some of you might enjoy a reference to see how much the watchtower teaching on scripture might still be influencing the conclusions you are making today...at least about the tanakh.

I believe you hit it on the nail. These idiots have no idea of the repercussions an incident like this could bring on them. I have a former sister in law who started sleeping around with several men and then started living with one of them. When the elders demanded she attend a judicial committee, she got a lawyer who threaten them and the Society.
The WT Society gave orders to the elders to leave her alone. If she ever wanted to come back then they could deal with her then. But hands off for the moment.
So I know they are idiots who don’t know what they are doing.

I don’t know what Latin country you are in, but I am in Juarez Mexico and the Elders don’t dare do something like that here. All we have to do here is give the police a couple of hundred dollars and you will never hear from those elders again.
Even in the U.S. elders will not hound a publisher like they are doing to your sister. They just want to meet with her to formally disfellowship her. She needs to stay far away from them and use whatever legal means she can in that country, to protect herself.
They don't play fair, she shouldn't either.

Recession will hit WT money flow as there will be less donations and much of the real estate won't be worth much. Some sales were KH were postponed after 2008 recession due plunging values. In Prague, the local bethel suppose to be sold in 2009 after its closure, but collapse of the real estate prices and weakening Czech crown made this sale less profitable. The branch sale was postponed indefinitely and what I have heard because the value is less than was six years ago.
